A great choice as a foundation plant, formal hedge, or in landscape designs. This broadleaf evergreen Korean boxwood wintergreen variety has a botanical name of Buxus microphylla. Wintergreen boxwood bush is also well known for its continuous dark green color all through the winter season.
Tolerant of transplanting, the shallow roots of the Wintergreen Boxwood are easy to move to the desired planting site. Avoid planting in windy areas. Their soil needs are adaptable, although they prefer organic, well-drained soil. Boxwoods can be planted 2-3 feet apart from their centers to form a hedge. Wintergreen Boxwood likes to grow naturally in full sun to partial shade for optimum growth. In hotter climates, however, they appreciate afternoon shade. Regular watering is important in the first year of planting to establish roots, without water the leaves may turn yellow.
The Wintergreen Boxwood growth rate on the slow side, growing between 2-3 inches annually until fully mature.

When pruning Wintergreen Boxwoods, all you really need to do is remove dead and diseased branches. You can also trim overgrown branches to help improve the airflow. They require shearing or pruning in the spring to achieve and maintain their desired shape. This variety responds very well to pruning and can be maintained in a wide variety of desired shapes, sizes, heights, widths, forms, etc.
It is incredibly disease-resistant, salt spray tolerant, and also deer resistant. This cold hardy boxwood variety can grow across most regions of the United States in USDA hardiness zones 5-9 and does not need much protection from winter winds.
