The daylily (Hemerocallis) is considered a sure bet perennial， as they thrive throughout most of the country， with the exception of the very deep south. Each flower stem typically has at least a dozen flower buds and the plant stays in bloom for many weeks. They should be planted in every garden. Stella de Oro is a multiple AHS award winner and is perhaps the most popular daylily in cultivation world wide. It flowers yellow， with deeper throats and ruffled edges. The leaves are linear and blade-like. Its flower is classified as a miniature and appreciated for it's compact size， vigorous growth， profuse bloom and extended blooming period.
